Those who prefer using an open source office suite as o opposed to a paid one should be delighted to learn that NeoOffice 3.2, currently in beta, has been patched with additional bug fixes ensuring compatibility with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

Tested against the latest Developer preview of Lion, NeoOffice 3.2 Beta  Patch 3 fixes issues reported by testers in the previous version (3.2 Patch 2).

A message posted on behalf of the NeoOffice team reads: “After we released the last NeoOffice 3.2 Beta patch last week, we have been busily testing our code on the most recent Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Developer Preview 2 release available from Apple."

“While NeoOffice 3.2 Beta installs and runs on Lion, some new bugs did appear in Lion Developer Preview 2. We have fixed those bugs and have released NeoOffice 3.2 Beta Patch 3,” Patrick, Fran, Ed, and Tim write on the Trinity forums.

According to those who maintain the open source Mac office suite, the patch includes fixes for these specific errors:

- Crash when removing or disabling font in Font Book application - Menubar does not update when changing active window on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - Accessing menubar while printing causes hanging - Native comboboxes and listboxes do not paint properly on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - Printing large document with many images excessive memory.

Regular users (non-donors) can download NeoOffice 3.1.2 Patch 7 which includes pretty much the same features and fixes, albeit without the newest fixes for stability under OS X Lion.
