NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 2 Adds Horizontal Scrolling

- Media Browser support planned for the next NeoOffice patch due out next month

By: Filip Truta, Apple News Editor

One of the most requested features with NeoOffice, horizontal scrollwheel support, has finally been added with the release of Neo Office 2.2.3 Patch 2. Improvements and bug fixes are also in order for users of full-featured set of office applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, and database programs for Mac OS X. NeoOffice.org is planning to add Media Browser support in the next NeoOffice patch release in early May 2008.

"One of the most requested features for NeoOffice
has been horizontal scrollwheel support but, due to some technical limitations, we were unable to add that feature. Recently we were able to find solutions to those technical limitations and we are pleased to announce that NeoOffice now supports horizontal movement in scrollwheels, trackballs, and trackpads. We have included this new scrollwheel support in NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 2," says Gand. "Also, we would like announce our plan to add Media Browser support in the next NeoOffice patch release in early May 2008."

Patch 2 for NeoOffice 2.2.3 adds support for horizontal scrolling with supported mice, trackballs, and trackpads, improved import of PICT images (stand-alone and embedded in MS Office documents), while opening the Help menu on Mac OS X 10.5 no longer causes other menus to vanish.

As far as fixes go, a hang that may occur after generating merged documents has been dealt with, as well as an issue where the mail merge document window opened with wrong size. Patch 2 also fixes a bug where new document windows sometimes opened with wrong size and an issue where spaces may have had an incorrect size when exporting as PDF. Some users reported that Dashed and dotted lines converted to solid lines when exporting as PDF. Well, that bug has been squashed too, along with a bug where some Opt-arrow keys move pictures and frames in wrong direction.
