Neo Ellipse is the name of a brand new mobile phone that will soon hit the market to show other handset manufacturers what a truly fresh-looking device should be like.
Designed and built by Neo DWC-LLC, a mixed company with headquarters in the UK and Dubai (UAE), the handset comes with a form factor that goes perfectly with the Ellipse name. Presented as a "phone that resembles a sculpture," the Ellipse measures 110 x 44 x 15 millimeters (being only 3 millimeters thick at its ends), it's dressed in a glossy finish and has a chrome center spine that makes it look really cool.
The phone's full list of specs was not unveiled, but we do know that the Ellipse brings the following: a 2 inch TFT display, Media player, Bluetooth, a 2 Megapixel camera, email, Web browser, 1GB of built-in memory and microSD/microSDHC card support for up to another 8GB. "Quad-band" connectivity is also present, but it's not clear yet if 3G is in there too.
Pallav Patel, president and CEO of Neo DWC-LLC, stated: "We have one goal, and that is to bring what seems like concept phones, to life. We don't bring out phone after phone that looks just like all the others. We take the time and design a phone that makes the consumer who buys it feel special. We take great pride and pleasure in designing our phones and will continue to do so model after model. We aim to be a brand that will always have the most unique looking feature phones in the market and this is what will set us apart from the rest."
Neo Ellipse will be available this month, in the Middle East and several other Asian countries, for a retail price that was not yet disclosed. After October 1, the fashionable handset will try to conquer even more markets.
Neo DWC-LLC is the manufacturer behind another unusual handset, the Neo 808i, one of the world's smallest GSM devices. The company "warns" us that, besides the Ellipse, it will introduce three other new phones by the end of 2008.
