Netflix has lent more credibility to the rumors that it could be moving to the PlayStation 3 home gaming console from Sony and the Nintendo manufactured Wii.

A job offer from the company itself has surfaced, showing the requirements for a position called “Engineering Leader-Gaming Platforms,” that is part of a department named “Partner Product Development.”

Those who are interested in the position should make sure that they are ready for the task of “prototyping, testing and building the Netflix experience for gaming consoles,” while also being ready to lead a “small technology team to rapidly prototype and iterate on a variety of platforms.”

In order to do this, Netflix is asking those applying for a position to have “years of experience” in videogame development, the potential to work around “technical hurdles” and also to demonstrate that they have “experience at a successful company in the console gaming space.” No direct references have been made to the PS3 or the Wii, but it is clear that the position is not related to the Xbox 360.

Netflix has recently put out two surveys in which it asked questions related to the platform moving to the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii, asking potential customers to say how they envisage such a movie streaming service. Streaming movies are interesting to console users because they allow them to experience near cinematic quality from the comfort of their own couches but until now, Netflix has been exclusively offered by the Xbox 360, in a partnership that seems to have been profitable for both entities.

Apparently, in its search for more profit, Netflix is ready to also move to the rival gaming consoles. An official announcement related to the expansion of Netflix's presence in the gaming world could appear shortly.
