A few months back, the case of a woman whose sole dream in life was that of being able to surgically alter her face to look like Nefertiti grabbed international attention. The 50-year-old British woman had spent about £200,000 on over 50 procedures to her face, all of which had brought her one step closer to looking like her idol – but, according to the Daily Mail, all that money also cost her daughter her private education.

Rachel Namita was a student at Roedean, described by the mail as “one of Britain’s most exclusive girls’ public schools,” where fees are of £5,000 a single term. During the half-year assembly, Rachel heard her name called out together with those of other girls who would be leaving the school. This way, Rachel learned that she was being transferred to her local public school and that her mother had spent the money that should have been put aside for her schooling on plastic surgery.

Mrs. Namita doesn’t feel too bad about it, though. The woman, who revealed in an older interview that her desire to get a total makeover relied heavily on her being convinced she was Nefertiti incarnated, knows people will point fingers and judge. Then again, it’s not like she really had a choice, she goes on to say. Moreover, she believes Rachel will excel no matter the school she goes to, therefore she can honestly say she did nothing wrong in spending her tuition money.

“I don’t remember sitting down with her, but I thought she realized how bad the financial situation was. Rachel had a scholarship which paid half the fees. But I was having to find the top-up fees of roughly £1,000 a month. It was a regular payment, unlike surgery where one year I might have spent £5,000, another year nothing at all,” Nileen tells the Mail by means of an “excuse” for what she’s done with her daughter’s education money.

“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to commit myself to the fees in case I needed more surgery, it was simply because I no longer had the money. I don’t feel guilty that I didn’t put the money aside for her schooling. Although she was upset, I knew Rachel would be fine whichever school she attended. I realize there are people who won’t agree with my decisions. I am not looking for anyone’s approval,” the woman explains for the same publication.

All this while, her 16-year-old daughter says she was “devastated” to learn she could no longer attend the private school.
