Electronic Arts' online free-to-play Need for Speed World racing game has reached the impressive figure of 5 million registered users, and is celebrating this achievement by allowing all of them exclusive access to the Audi A1 clubsport quattro concept.

EA's been trying lots of new things with its Need for Speed franchise, releasing plenty of new takes on the racing series, both arcade titles like Hot Pursuit, or simulators like Shift 2 Unleashed, but also promoting the free-to-play Need for Speed World.

The free online game, which has been out for quite some time now, has received plenty of new content over the past few months, and has now reached the very impressive number of 5 million registered users.

"Millions of racing fans have flocked to Need for Speed World to experience the thrill of illicit street racing in the popular Play4Free online PC title," EA said in an official statement.

"Over five million registered users have battled other gamers in intense races, evaded the cops in thrilling pursuits and joined friends to outrun the law in Team Escape mode. Need for Speed World delivers an enormous, socially-connected white-knuckle Need for Speed experience."

NFS World offers a wide variety of powerful cars, ranging from the Lamborghini Murcielago to the Nissan Skyline or Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

As a special treat for all the 5 million users, the free game is now offering them the chance to have a virtual drive with the Audi A1 clubsport quattro, a concept that is currently being showcased to the world at the real life Worthersee tour in Austria.

The new Audi is exclusive to the online racing game as a free rental car, which can be ordered from today until June 4.

EA promises that even more new content is going to be released for NFS World, so players have plenty of reasons to continue entering online races with friends or AI-controlled opponents, as well as explore the game's massive world.
