Criterion Games, the developer behind last year's Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake, is apparently preparing to re-release another classic NFS experience, in the form of Need for Speed: Underground, at least according to a new report that included the game's logo.

Update: Criterion Games has dismissed the rumor as being "totally fake".

Need for Speed: Most Wanted occupied a special place in Electronic Arts' long-running racing series and developer Criterion managed to successfully reboot it last year with the simply titled NFS: Most Wanted.

Now, EGM reports that the studio is once again going to remake an even older game, in the form of Need for Speed: Underground.

Fans of the series certainly remember the iconic game which introduced customization and street racing to the series.

As further proof, a logo of the game has surfaced on the web, which is similar in style to the Most Wanted one from last year and features different monuments like the Colosseum, the Statue of Liberty, or Big Ben.

As of yet, neither Criterion nor EA has commented on the rumor.
