Electronic Arts has just presented the first piece of actual downloadable content for its latest Need for Speed: The Run racing game, in the form of the Signature Edition Booster Pack, which brings nine new cars that have been upgraded both visually and in terms of actual performance.

Need for Speed: The Run was presented as the return of the series to story-based racing experiences but, as we pointed out in our review, only ended up delivering a lackluster narrative. This doesn’t mean that the rest of the game was bad, however, as the visuals generated by the Frostbite 2 engine, not to mention the variety of challenge and multiplayer, made it quite a great experience.

Now, in order to further enrich the experience, EA and developer Black Box have come up with the first DLC pack for the game, in the form of the Signature Edition Booster one, which brings nine cars, each customized in a special way in terms of visuals, and upgraded in terms of performance.

The nine new cars are: ‘Fatlace’ Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R ‘Venom’ Nissan 370Z ‘Scoundrel’ Subaru WRX STi ‘Victory’ BMW M3 Sport Evolution ‘Conroy’ Ford GT ‘Puppet’ Chevy El Camino ‘Nicholas’ Mazda RX-7 ‘Mega’ Nissan GT-R ‘Falken’ Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 The Signature Edition Booster Pack will be making its way onto the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 20. EA has declined to mention a price, but if you want to race these customized rides, you’d better be ready to spend quite a few dollars, euros or MS Points.

No word yet on whether or not the Signature Edition Booster Pack will appear for the PC version of Need for Speed: The Run, sadly, but we might expect EA to offer it through its Origin service at some point in time.

Until next week, console owners can enjoy a video of the nine new cars below.
