EA Mobile, an Electronic Arts Inc. division, announced on Friday that there is a new game title now available in the Apple App Store for users of an iPhone or iPod touch, namely Need for Speed SHIFT. According to the company, the new software solution has been specifically designed for the iPhone and iPod touch devices, and comes towards users as an aggressive, high RPM game “to invigorate screens with adrenaline pumping driving simulations, pixel perfect cars and a range of pro circuits from around the world.”

The new Need for Speed SHIFT app for iPhone OS users offers the possibility to enjoy a multiplayer experience via innovative Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and it also sports a series of brand new features that should enable one of the most exciting racing experience on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Not only does the game offer players the chance to drive 20 of the fastest, hottest, most powerful cars in the world, but it also provides them with the possibility to step on the asphalt in Chicago, London, and Tokyo, in a total number of 28 street and pro racing events.

“Need for Speed SHIFT brings the power and thrill of high-performance racing to iPhones and iPod touches everywhere,” said Travis Boatman, VP of Worldwide Studios at EA Mobile. “The game delivers the full throttle racing and drifting that players have come to expect from the Need for Speed series, while offering intuitive controls, deep customization options and incredibly realistic graphics, optimized for 3GS devices.”

A wide range of upgrade features are also available in the game, including top speed, handling, acceleration, and nitrous boosts. Moreover, Need for Speed SHIFT comes with a true driver experience with the drive profile players can create, especially since they are tightly connected with the career progression of any user, impacting the way in which cars are unlocked. The game enables players to push themselves to the limit, while offering them control, the company notes.
