Electronic Arts and Sony have confirmed that they've teamed up to make Need for Speed: Rivals, the next racing game in the prestigious series, a launch-day game for the PlayStation 4 in North America, meaning it will appear alongside the next-gen console on November 15.

Need for Speed: Rivals was revealed earlier this year and promises to deliver an impressive racing experience that shows off the power of the Frostbite 3 engine and of new technologies like AllDrive across platforms like the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.

While the game is still set to appear for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 19, in North America, and November 21, in Europe, its PS4 launch date has been moved forward to November 15.

This makes NFS: Rivals a launch-day game for the PS4, not just for the Xbox One, on which it will appear on November 22.

"We’re stoked to be the first racing game on PS4, and believe we’re setting a new bar for driving gameplay and visuals. PS4, coupled with the Frostbite 3 engine, will give players unparalleled next-gen gaming — epic locations and vistas, stunning time of day and weather changes, and super high fidelity cars," EA said about the new launch date on the PS blog.

"But we’re not just about looks — what’s under the hood counts, too! With Rivals, we’re introducing AllDrive, a new feature which allows players to choose seamlessly between single player, co-op, or multiplayer, and a completely new way for you to play Need for Speed."

Electronic Arts has also confirmed that NFS: Rivals will have Remote Play functionality, meaning PS Vita owners will be able to play the game on their portable device.

"This feature will work out of the box, allowing players to put down their DualShock 4, grab their Vita, and continue their game for those moments when you have to give up the TV. This is a great new feature, and when you also consider the drop-in functionality of Overwatch mode, we’re giving you more ways to enjoy and play Need for Speed."

NFS: Rivals is set to receive a few more details ahead of its launch this month.
