Racing games have been around for quite some time, but one of the trademark series for the genre has been Electronic Arts' Need For Speed franchise. Even though it hasn't been going through the best of times recently, with three titles scheduled to appear in the near future, things are definitely looking good.

One of the most anticipated ones is Need For Speed Shift, which promises to both combine hardcore simulator mechanics and provide various levels of difficulty, so that the overall experience will be a fun one, no matter how proficient the player is in the art of handling a virtual car on virtual tracks around the world.

We've already found out a lot of details about the title, from its drifting mode to the full roster of cars, but now, thanks to British retail store chain website Game.co.uk, details about a special Collector's Edition of the title have been leaked. It seems that this edition will be available only for console owners, specifically the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

Available for pre-order, this special edition will feature, besides the normal game disc, a code for unlocking the BMW M3 GT2, the car that is on the cover of both the game and this collector's edition, another code for unlocking a Super Series race, and a poster, all wrapped in a special packaging for hardcore fans.

Overall, for 5 pounds sterling or about 8 dollars extra, this special edition is pretty interesting. EA won't equal the special Prestige edition of Modern Warfare 2 from Activision, but a lot of racing fans will be more than happy to pay a bit extra and enjoy some special features from this game, which has been eagerly anticipated for quite a while.

Are you interested in this special edition that will appear, until further notice only on consoles, or will you wait to see whether it will reach the PC platform before its release? Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
