Barely has Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit been launched and EA has already decided to offer two pieces of downloadable content, but it's not exactly what many gamers might expect.

Instead of offering new cars or tracks, the first two add-ons for the latest title in the popular Need for Speed series will just unlock all of the cars in the game.

The two pieces of DLC, the Racer Timesaver Pack and the SCPD Timesaver Pack, will unlock all of the cars in their respective areas, allowing you to use the best of the best against your rivals on the virtual tracks.

Those that don't want to complete challenges or finish hard races in order to unlock new cars and features can now download these two add-ons for 320 Microsoft Points or $3.99 each, on either the Xbox Live Marketplace or the PlayStation Network.

No details have been revealed about these packs coming to either the PC or Wii, so owners of those platforms will just have to work in order to unlock all of the cars in the newest Need For Speed game.

Considering the track record of the studio behind Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Criterion Games, expect lots of proper DLC to arrive in the following months.

The company's last title, Burnout Paradise, became an example in DLC, as it received lots of interesting content, both free and paid, making it one of the most popular racing games a few years ago.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is the first iteration in the series from Criterion, and judging by our first look and one hour spent with it, it's shaping up to be one of the most important titles in the series' long history.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
