While Microsoft is struggling to deal with software piracy across the globe, the company has found that Namibia is one of the countries with the highest percentage of pirated software, as nearly 90 percent of users run counterfeited apps.

Windows and Office are obviously two of the most pirated apps, the company said, according to New Era, while a total of 87 percent of the software is illegal.

The price tag of Microsoft’s products is regarded as one of the causes of this high piracy rate, but local representatives of the Redmond-based software titan say this isn’t the case.

“We have products and services to suit every lifestyle and wallet,” said Lavinniah Muthoni of Human Capital Synergies at Microsoft.

The company has already partnered with local authorities to fight piracy in the country, so all users are recommended to make the switch to genuine software as soon as possible.
