The Norwegian company, Stochasto, has decided to take their chance on the US mobile text message market. They will soon launch NearU, a search engine that will return answers for several important pieces of information.

Most important, NearU is capable of functioning on any mobile phone model, as it does not depend on Internet in order to communicate with the user. The solution for this is the SMS, which is available on all cell phone models and especially those easy to use. This is why NearU is capable of seriously competing with the Google and Yahoo mobile search engines.

The concept proves to be quite easy to understand. Stochasto uses phrases and sentences found in several reviews of a location in order to return precise answers that provide high quality results. Even more, a NanoReview is given to the user as to describe the locations using the most frequently cited characteristics. NearU currently provides search answers related to more than 500,000 restaurants, cafes and lifestyle businesses in the US.

The search engine might turn out successful because of these reasons. Instead of returning links to other sites that leave the user to further look for the information he needs, NearU provides the aspects that are most probable to respond to the user's needs.

The service will be available starting June 2007, but right now it can be tested by all those interested. All they have to do is type the name of a restaurant and the current location of the user, as to have fast results similar to those that will be available later this summer after the full release. More information will be provided at the Stochasto website, which is currently being updated.
