She used the same date and the same wedding gown, unconfirmed report claims

“Glee” star Naya Rivera married Ryan Dorsey over the weekend in a secret, very intimate ceremony in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, with the first photos of the bride and groom already out online, thanks to a deal with People magazine.

The ceremony might have been a surprise, but according to a new report in TMZ, only as far as the groom goes, because Naya might have been planning the wedding for many months in advance.

The reason why Naya’s wedding is making headlines isn’t the secrecy around it but rather the fact that she tied the knot with another man 3 months after she broke her engagement to rapper Big Sean, who proposed to her in October 2013, after only a few months of dating.

The split was a very nasty one, with cheating and theft accusations flying all over the place. Reports said that he had slept around on her and she claimed on Twitter that when he came over to their former place to pick up his stuff, he “stole” an expensive Rolex watch from her.

As if that weren’t bad enough, rumor also claimed that Big Sean was “scared” of Naya, who was very jealous, controlling, and possessive, to the point where he couldn’t go out of the house without her throwing a fit.

However, before everything went south, Naya and Big Sean were planning a wedding and, the aforementioned celebrity publication hints, it might have been just this one that saw Ryan as groom.

You can’t really fault a girl for being practical in this harsh economy, can you?

“According to our sources, the wedding date – July 19 – was the exact same date Naya and Sean were supposed to tie the knot. We're told Naya picked the date back in October when she and Sean got engaged. Rivera was married in a Monique Lhuillier gown – which our sources say is the same designer of the dress Sean bought for Rivera for their wedding,” TMZ writes.

Moreover, Naya never returned the engagement ring she got from Big Sean, so she might have repurposed that one too.

Basically, she had this entire wedding planned out and perhaps half-paid for, so she just went ahead with it even though the man who was initially supposed to be the groom wasn’t in her life anymore.

Ryan and Naya have been friends for about 4 years, starting with the moment he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. There are no details on the timeline of their relationship and when they became romantically involved, but it is believed he helped her through all the Big Sean drama.

Ryan’s father, Arnold Dorsey, tells TMZ that July 19 is also his son’s birthday, hinting that this is why they married on this day. The wedding included about a dozen people and was beautiful, he says.

“We didn’t question him. We are very happy for him. We trusted them and want what they wanted,” Mr. Dorsey adds.
