Officials have obtained footage from surveillance cameras in a Navy Yard building that served as backdrop for a massacre earlier this week.

While the videos have not been released to the press, it appears that they prove that gunman Aaron Alexis has chased after his victims.

Twelve people died and others were injured during Alexis' shooting spree at the Navy base.

He gunned down civilian employees and contractors in building 197, prompting a massive police response that ended in his death.

NewsDay reported that he chased after the victims for 30 minutes, scouring offices and looking for people.

He targeted them at random, but one was a security guard whose gun he took away and used in the spree.

Alexis was employed by a Navy contractor and got on the premises by using his pass key. He had been there before, working on a computer server project.
