Officials have identified seven out of a dozen people killed in a mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. yesterday.

Three more people were hospitalized at MedStar Washington Hospital Center with serious wounds and they are expected to live.

59-year-old Michael Arnold, 53-year-old Sylvia Frasier, Kathy Gaarde, 62, 73-year-old John Roger Johnson, 50-year-old Frank Kohler, Vishnu Pandit, 61 and 46-year-old Kenneth Bernard Proctor did not survive the attack.

Authorities will be releasing the other victims' names as soon as an identification is performed, CNN reports.

All the victims were civilians, some working for Navy contractors. Gunman Aaron Alexis also got in using a work pass, having been employed by subcontractor "The Experts" on an HP Enterprise Services contract.

He had not been paid for months and was growing increasingly upset. He also had a prior shooting arrest for putting a bullet through his apartment ceiling three years ago.
