ICS Mobile has announced the release of Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense. Immediately available for an introductory price of $2.99, Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense brings new layers to the Tower-Defense genre for iPhone and iPod touch.

ICS Mobile has been able to do this by incorporating RPG and RTS elements into a water-based environment supported by the company's AWS Fluid Simulation Engine. The game is said to offer “hundreds of hours of gameplay” and even more as soon as new maps and special updates are made available, according to the gaming studio.

“The development process for Navy Patrol:Coastal Defense was a real challenge since we needed to simultaneously develop a fluid simulation engine, an open path tower defense game as well as a completely new RPG inspired experience points system” Joe Bayen, CEO, ICS Mobile, said.

“Our main objective was to reinvigorate the tower defense genre by bringing a more intense and engaging gaming atmosphere to players,” Andrew Zeck, lead programmer on Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense, added. “We wanted to provide players with a multitude of tactical elements which will give them the freedom to personalize their game strategy.”

In the official ICS Mobile report, Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense is touted as being only the first installment of a Navy Patrol series to delight iPhone and iPod touch owners. According to the studio, each upcoming title will use the AWS engine as a core platform, but sporting a distinctive, strategic theme and gameplay.

iPhone and iPod touch owners can acquire Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense immediately for $2.99 for the first 48 hours and $4.99 thereafter. Use the link below to get your hands on the new game.
