The gadget that makes you feel like flying like a jet fighter pilot

Do you want to feel safer when you drive? How about feeling like it is really 2014, not 2004? If you still take out your phone to see who texted you, or try to prop it up on the dashboard to check out Google Maps while driving, then it is time to get Navdy.

Navdy is a gadget that works with your iPhone and provides notifications on your windshield. They really look like a Heads Up Display  (HUD) similar to the one pilots use when they are flying fighter jet planes.

Navdy has the size of a CD player, and once you put it on your dashboard, right in front of you, it will turn into the central device in your car. This little gadget is based on a laser beam that projects the information you need on a transparent piece of glass. The UI of an up is projected to that screen and it shows the relevant information you need but it won't block your view. It looks like the picture is projected 2 meters in front of your car so you don't have to take your eyes off of the road.

The device connects wirelessly to your iPhone or to an Android phone, and it has its own apps that are designed around the driving experiences.

The cool thing about Navdy is that it can see your gestures and turn them into actions to control the phone. You can, for example, put a thumb up to answer a phone call and swipe to the right to end it. Because this works well with Siri, you can also use your voice to control it. You can ask it whatever you ask Siri to do: read a text message or an email out loud, reply to an SMS, ask it to play a certain band or song, or ask for directions. You can also tweet while driving, and everything is legal and as simple as dictating a few words.

The device doesn't need a subscription or any extra accessories to work. On the other hand, it is safer than Car Play devices that still need your finger on their touch screen to work properly.

Navdy works with Google Maps, iMessage, WhatsApp, the Phone app, Twitter, Facebook, Calendar, Spotify, Pandora and iTunes. It can also read out loud any notifications that show up on your home screen. You can also choose to have it displayed on the screen, rather than read. Another cool thing is that the navigation app will not disappear when a call comes in.

For certain car models, Navdy taps into your car's computer and it can show engine diagnostics and issues, tire pressure, fuel economy or any other important information.

You can pre-order Navdy right now for $299 (€223.29) plus shipping.
