It's summer, and whether we like to admit it or we're the type that likes to indulge in silent self-pity, we all long for the sea, open spaces, fresh air and a little bit of the beach summer glamor. Whether you love indulging in the sun for days at a time or would simply like a one day's sweet escape to the beach, I'm sure that the whole "sailor" trend, complete with striped T-shirts, long white trousers and blue eye-shadow, is not a stranger to you.
We all love a little bit of adventure and when we spend most of our days locked in an office, sitting at a desk in front of a computer, few things evoke the idea of endless freedom like a little nautical glamor.

The nautical look is coming back into fashion this season, with everyone from Chanel to Yves Saint Laurent picking up the idea and exploiting its various angles. For Tommy Hilfiger, it's all about navy pants with plenty of white decorative buttons. Another big hit is the simple white tiered dress worn with a black and white striped cropped top and trainers. Beauty brands were also quick to join the trend, with MAC launching a line called the "Naughty

Nauticals" collection and Tarte Cosmetic bringing us their "Lips Ahoy" collection. As far as accessories are concerned, Juicy Couture brings us the "Yacht Club" anchor necklace. Its name says it all...

However, the question is - what can we do with this trend to make it wearable and stop ourselves from going overboard? The answer is, go for sensible choices. White denim, for example, has become a summer essential. Why not buy a pair of white jeans and add a simple navy blue T-shirt or a long, billowy blouse that reached down to hip level? Lucky for us, intense colors such as azure blue are very much in fashion this summer, so feel free to experiment with a bolder, more daring makeup. An anchor necklace, wedge sandals and a striped, white and blue summer bag will fit the white jeans and make you look trendy and effortlessly elegant - not to mention ready to set sail for the blue horizon. So, what say you?
