Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was one of the most successful video games launched exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The developers who created the game at Naughty Dog managed to show what the Sony home console was capable of, creating fluid gameplay situations and offering visuals that surpassed everything the console had to offer up until that point. Now a lot of fans are wondering what Drake and Chloe could do for their next adventure and a lot of players are hoping that in addition to creating a new Uncharted titles Naughty Dog would also take on a new intellectual property.
Arne Meyer, who is the community manager for
Naughty Dog, has told PS Universe as part of a wide ranging interview that, “The Uncharted universe is a very deep universe populated by characters with rich backgrounds – and present and futures stories. We’re definitely looking at ways to reveal more about our game universe and the characters that live within it – I think our fans are looking for more and we’d love to provide that to them.”
He says the company, “would love to expand the Uncharted franchise to expose as many people as possible to the compelling stories we have to tell within that universe. However, we haven’t made any plans at the moment regarding other platforms.” This probably means that Naughty Dog will be working only for the PlayStation 3 and maybe the PlayStation Portable in the foreseeable future, hoping that gamers that like their games will be driven to actually buy a Sony console.
In the meantime Naughty Dog is still putting out title update for
Uncharted 2, mostly aimed at the multiplayer element of the game. The company is probably also waiting to see what happens with the launch of the PlayStation Move motion tracking system and with the introduction of three dimensional gaming before talking about the new gaming projects they are working on.
