Older games might not appear anytime soon on PS4

Naughty Dog once again emphasizes that it's focusing all of its teams on the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End title for the PS4 console, meaning that it doesn't have time for other projects like an Uncharted HD Trilogy on the new device.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the next major installment in the action-adventure series, and developer Naughty Dog has made sure to hype up the new story starring protagonist Nathan Drake in the last several months.

Unfortunately, it hasn't really talked about the oft-request Uncharted HD Trilogy project that many fans have clamored for ever since the PS4 got released back in November of 2013.

Don't expect an Uncharted HD Trilogy from Naughty Dog

Now, in a recent GameInformer podcast via Gamepur, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann touches briefly on the possibility of seeing Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 remastered for the PS4, saying only that the whole of Naughty Dog is focusing on Uncharted 4 for the new console.

"Right now, all of our focus is on Uncharted 4. That's all we can spare," he says.

Naughty Dog did move to a two-team structure a few years ago in order to accommodate the creation process for The Last of Us, but apparently, it seems to just juggle around the main development force, depending on what project takes precedence.

It's still possible that another studio is handling it

As such, while it does sound like a good idea, don't expect to see old Uncharted games on the PS4 from Naughty Dog. It still leaves the door open for another team to remake the titles for the new console, as Sony hasn't shied away from such a procedure in the past.

The Japanese company either used one of its other internal teams to bring such projects to life, or made contracts with smaller, independent studios to breathe fresh life into the older games.

Expect to hear more about a potential Uncharted HD Trilogy in the future, maybe after Uncharted 4 launches on the PS4 in the fall.
