The upcoming role-playing game with deep strategic elements Natural Doctrine will be directed toward hardcore RPG fans, as any character death will result in the game ending.

Kadokawa Games' first internally-developed game will have players visiting the game over screen, should any of the characters in their party meet an untimely demise in the heat of battle.

Natural Doctrine is a high-fantasy Japanese role-playing game set in a universe where humans are fighting other races and mythological creatures, and will feature both a single-player campaign as well as cooperative and PvP multiplayer, with cross-play compatibility.

Players will also only be able to save the game on the world map, so circumventing losing the game will not be a task as easy as reloading a game state, as Siliconera informs.

Not everyone enjoys losing the game due to the loss of a character they don't care about, and whether or not Kadokawa Games will implement an optional hardcore option or not is yet unknown.

Natural Doctrine is currently scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on March 19, 2014.
