NIS America has announced that the strategy role-playing game Natural Doctrine will be released on the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 systems in the west in September this year.

Kadokawa Game Studios' debut title, Natural Doctrine, allows for cross-play and cross-save between the two platforms it's available on, and offers an experience that's as rugged as From Software's Dark Souls: whenever a party member dies, you take a shortcut to the game over screen.

As its title suggests, the game's focus is on the concept of natural selection, and its primary gameplay concept is having large armies of both friends and foes on a large battlefield at once, with armies consisting of humans, minotaurs, goblins, and other non-human species.

Natural Doctrine has both single players as well as multiplayer game modes, the latter of which also being cross-platform and allowing for cooperative action. Also, gamers will be able to play as non-human species in multiplayer.

The limited edition of the game, including a soft cover art book, a tear-resistant poster, and an explorer's bag is also available on the NIS America online store, going for $80 / €58 (PlayStation 4 version), $70 / €51 (PlayStation 3 version) or $60 / €44 (PlayStation Vita version).

The game will be available in both digital and retail forms, starting on September 16 in North America, and September 19 in Europe. The game is already out in Japan since April 3, 2014.
