Natasha Richardson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and wife of Liam Neeson, was injured yesterday in a ski accident at a private resort in Quebec, Canada. Although the family has not yet made any official announcement regarding her condition, the actress, who was rushed to the hospital for brain damage hours after the fall, is believed to be brain dead and has already been flown home in New York, to die in the company of her family, a report in the British media claims.

Richardson, a long-standing and well-known presence in the movie industry, was injured while learning to ski on the beginners’ slope. Liam Neeson, her husband, rushed to be by her side when learning about the accident, and is believed to have accompanied her to New York as well. As of now, it is not known whether the actress is at home or in a hospital, but word in the industry has it that family members are coming in to spend “one last day” with her.

“It’s so sad. Vanessa, her sister Lynn, everybody is gathering in New York to say goodbye. No one can believe what has happened, that this once vibrant woman, full of love, of life, is lying there brain dead.” one source close to the family has told the Daily Mail just a few hours ago.

Another spy says it’s Neeson’s wish to have his wife in New York, so that they can all spend the final moments together. “He’s bringing her to New York to die – to spend one last day with her family.” the spy explains for the aforementioned publication.

According to reports in the media, initially, Richardson laughed off the fall and refused medical assistance. She was not wearing a helmet when she took the tumble, paramedics have confirmed, but she instantly got up and laughed it all off.

She later returned to her hotel room but started complaining about a severe headache, and asked to be taken to the hospital for a check-up. Some sources tell she was unconscious when an ambulance arrived at the hotel, but others claim she was still laughing and telling jokes when carried away on a gurney.

“A ski patrol, with individuals trained in first aid, came over and asked if she needed treatment or wanted a doctor. She refused. The instructor then escorted her back [to] her room and remained with her for over an hour. Miss Richardson then said she was suffering from headaches and decided to go to hospital.” a spokesperson for the ski resort explains for the media about the accident.

The family is supposed to make an official statement about Richardson’s condition in a couple of hours. Keep an eye on this space for more details on this.
