Natalie Portaman is lining up project after project, and all of them seem to be of the serious kind. Shortly after she was cast as a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the upcoming biopic “On the Basis of Sex,” Portman is confirmed for another major biopic.

She will play Jacqueline Kennedy in the upcoming “Jackie,” which, Variety informs, will go into production at the end of the year. It doesn’t have an estimated release date just yet.

The film was confirmed at the Cannes Film Festival, which is happening right now, and will see Portman reunite with her “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky. This time, though, he will only serve as producer, as “Jackie” will be helmed by Pablo Larrain (“No”).

“‘Jackie’ talks about the days when Jackie Kennedy becomes an icon but has lost everything,” Vincent Maraval of production company Wild Bunch told the trade publication. The story will pick up 4 days after the assassination of Jacqueline’s husband US President John F. Kennedy.

It is estimated that “Jackie” will have a budget of around $15 million (€13.1 million). For the time being, Portman is the only star attached, but more details should emerge in the following weeks, so keep an eye on this space if you think this is a drama you’d like to see.
