Many days later after professional ballet dancer Sarah Lane told the media that she’d done most of the dancing Natalie Portman seems to be doing in “Black Swan,” indirectly calling the actress a liar, Natalie is breaking her silence.

However, those expecting an answer to the ever-burning question “did she or didn’t she dance?” will probably be sorry to hear that Natalie graciously refuses to do that.

In other words, she manages to sidestep the controversy, while also putting an end to it.

In an interview with E! Online to promote her latest comedy “Your Highness” (quotes via Us Magazine), Portman acknowledges the “Black Swan” controversy but still refuses to get dragged into it.

“I know what went on. We had an amazing experience making the movie. I don’t want to tarnish it by entering it into nastiness,” she says.

The nastiness she refers to is claims by Lane, who did some of the most complicated dance scenes in the film, that she did about 85% of all the dancing, and that Portman and the movie studio lied about it to make it look like she learned to become a ballerina in a year and a half.

So far, director Darren Aronofsky and even co-star Mila Kunis have come to Natalie’s defense, saying Lane did only a small portion of the dance scenes and not the other way around.

“I’m really proud of everyone’s work on the movie, my experience. I will have that forever. And it’s nice for me to know about that no matter what kind of nastiness or gossip is going around,” Portman says in the same interview.

With that out of the way, Natalie also tells E! she’s happy to be able to take a break from work now and just focus on her expanding family: she and fiancé Benjamin Millepied are expecting their first child in a few months’ time.

“I have to admit, it’s really fun being able to take it easy and not worry about food. At the same time, you have to be healthy because there is a person inside me. I do love ice cream and desserts though!” Natalie says.
