Staff at Nashville Zoo in the US has recently announced the birth of a baby giant anteater.

The baby anteater was born at this facility several weeks ago, on July 17. It presently shares a barn with its mother, and appears to be in good health.

The family is off exhibit, yet zoo workers expect it will not be long until visitors to the zoo are given the opportunity to have a look at them.

“While they are not currently on public display, we do hope to change than in the future. In the meantime, we will continue to learn more about this little known and threatened species both in captivity and in the wild,” Zoo President Rick Schwartz said, as cited by Zoo Borns.

The same source tells us that Nashville zoo is presently home to 15 giant anteaters. By the looks of it, this is the largest collection in North America.
