Publisher Deep Silver has announced the release of a new update for their Nascar 14 racing video game, available today for free, that introduces the new Chase format for the Sprint Cup.

Nascar fans will be able to enjoy the new format ahead of its official launch in the actual, real-world Nascar, as Chase is scheduled to debut this upcoming season. Video games are already overtaking reality, it seems, as Nascar 14 players will be the first people in the world able to enjoy the experience.

In addition to the new qualifying and Chase format rules announced by Nascar earlier this year, the update also adds a number of other things to the game, such as additional drivers, in order to complete a full field of 43 Sprint Cup drivers, various gameplay refinements, such as better decals and paint, and private online lobbies, some difficulty setting adjustments designed to bring AI closer to the selected level, as well as some adjustments to the Kansas and Darlington race lengths.

Nascar 14 was released earlier this year in February, and was largely praised for its solid gameplay and career mode. The licensed game includes real-world data from the Nascar championship, and is the perfect racing season companion for Nascar fans.
