Naruto Shippuuden: Shinobi Retsuden 2 is a video game produced especially for the Nintendo DS, and released only in Japan. It is, as its name implies, the sequel to Naruto Shippuuden: Shinobi Retsuden, which was known in North America and Europe as Naruto: Ninja Destiny. The title is based on the popular Naruto anime series, which is aired by a variety of TV stations across the world, such as TV Tokyo and Cartoon Network.

This particular game follows the adventures of the series' protagonist, namely Uzumaki Naruto, and of the heroes in the second series of the show, Naruto Shippuuden, which showcases all of the characters that have now grown up and acquired new skills. Naruto Shippuuden: Shinobi Retsuden 2 features a wide variety of individuals from the show, including Naruto's team mates, Sakura, Sai, and Kakashi, as well as others like Sasuke, Orochimaru, or Itachi.

The game displays an extensive number of missions, similar to the ones carried out by the characters in the anime series. It focuses on Team Kakashi's assignment to find two members of the evil Akatsuki organization, which is a group formed by rogue ninjas, or shinobi, who want to capture Naruto. The title was well received by the public, due to the fact that it stayed close to the story of the show and provided a different perspective on Naruto's mission.
