14 DAY TRIAL // Just the other day, actress Naomi Watts, only a few days shy of a month since giving birth to her second child, walked the red carpet with her partner Liev Schreiber, unveiling a silhouette close to the one she had before pregnancy. The secret to her losing so much weight, she tells People magazine, is in nursing the child herself.
“I’m breastfeeding,” a glowing 40-year-old Watts told the magazine in reference to how Samuel Kai Schreiber, her second child, has helped her lose the extra weight. “And he’s sucking it all out of me, it seems. And when the baby comes out, it’s a lot of weight right there.” the actress further adds. And while nursing is known to burn the calories faster and in a more healthy way than any diet out there, it could be that it does not explain entirely Naomi’s weight loss.
Several women’s magazines are already saying that, while Naomi’s statement could be true to a certain extent, it can’t be that she lost that much weight only thanks to nursing. “Solely nursing to lose baby weight isn’t the magic pill. It’s a combination of that, eating right, and exercising that can help a new mom shrink down to the size she was before becoming pregnant.” FitSugar points out, adding that, at the same time, genetics does play an essential role in the time it takes a woman to shed the pounds, as opposed to others.
Watts and Schreiber have been a couple since 2005, and together they have another boy, 18-month-old Alexander Pete. Speaking of their two bundles of joy on the same occasion, at the premiere of Schreiber’s “Defiance” war drama, the mommy could not stop gushing about the joys of motherhood.
“They’re very different. [Sammy]'s more fragile, in a way. But I don’t know, maybe I’ve forgotten how small they are. [Alexander] is only 18 months old.” People magazine quotes her as saying. “And I’ve also got this big baby right here,” Naomi added, pointing at her life partner standing close to her on the red carpet.
