Naomi Campbell has been a household name on the fashion runways for several decades, and it looks like she isn't planning on going anywhere for the time being. The famous model, known for her temper that causes her to fly into violent outbursts from time to time, has just confessed that she wants to have a baby.

The 44-year-old supermodel is currently single, after she split last year from her longtime boyfriend Vladimir Doronin, but she’s determined to start her own family and is adamant that she doesn't need a man to procreate and raise a baby.

Speaking on a radio show on SiriusXM, the model was quoted as saying: “Yes or no — I’ve always spoken about children so many times in my interviews over the years. I do want to have a baby. And whether I’m with a man or not, I will have it on my own.” Her decision will put her in the ranks of other famous supermodels that have since turned into mothers with one or more children.

But in a way, she claims she's already a mother to the many models she's been mentoring as an executive producer on the Oxygen network show “The Face.” She opens up about that experience by saying, “I love mentoring. You’re with them day in and day out for 10 weeks, and suddenly when it’s finished, you get down. You miss them. I miss them. I get depressed when I’m not with my girls any more.”

This would explain her wish to have a baby of her own, one that won't run off at the end of 10 weeks, when the show is done.

Campbell also spoke out on some of the current issues of the fashion industry like the introduction of more ethnic diversity when it comes to models. She does admit that there has been some improvement made in the last couple of years, but she's still afraid that in the end it will prove to be just a “trend.”

On a more controversial note, Campbell also gave her opinion on the issue of fashion controlling women's bodies and making them suffer from eating disorders. She argued that women are responsible for their own actions when it comes to their bodies.

In her own words, “You cannot blame our industry for the body type of women. The food issue is a really sensitive subject for me, and it makes me nervous to really talk about it because I've never seen a designer in my whole 28 years say to someone, ‘Go on a diet, lose weight.’”

This comes into stark opposition with the opinion of another African-American model, Tyra Banks, who has previously blasted the fashion industry for turning her models into skinny girls in order to conform to its standards.

By contrast, Naomi thinks that, “You have to be responsible for your own actions. So if you decide you don't want to eat because you feel like you have to be like this, that's all up to you.”
