The tragic suicide of Nancy Motes, Julia Roberts' half-sister, is turning into a big scandal. After it was reported that the two sisters were embroiled in a bitter battle for the last years, it's now surfaced that Motes had timed her suicide in order to harm Julia's chances at an Oscar this year.

The outrageous claim comes via the Daily Mail, which spoke with Conner Dilbeck, Motes' fiancé. He claims that Motes chose to take her own life on Sunday deliberately because she knew that this would deal a heavy blow to Julia's chances of grabbing an Oscar.

Roberts has been nominated this year for her stunning performance in the movie “August: Osage County” in the category of Best Supporting Actress, but her half-sister's death and her final spiteful ramblings towards her sister have put a large question mark over the entire matter.

Conner Dilbeck said that Motes knew what she was doing “I have spent enough time with Nancy and I know enough about her that I can say from first hand experience a lot of things that have happened.” He blames Julia for forcing Motes to take her own life.

He adds that Julia inflicted “pure cruelty” on her half-sister and Nancy's suicide note was a desperate attempt to reveal her entire treatment.

Though initially ruled as an accident, Motes' death on Sunday is now being considered by the media as a suicide, after it was leaked that an 8-page suicide note was discovered on the scene and that Nancy blamed her action on her sister's cruelty.

Dilbeck says that the note is actually 8 pages long and not 5, as it was initially reported in the media, and that Roberts is “terrified” that its contents are going to leak in the press.

It has also transpired that Julia wasn't very pleased with her half-sister, who had given a series of rather spiteful interviews to several magazines last year, which spoke of the actress in very unflattering terms.

She blamed Julia for failing to be a supporting sister and aid her with starting her own acting career in Hollywood, and also for teasing her about her weight.

Both Conner, and Motes' fiancé, John, are claiming Roberts' family are now crying “crocodile tears,” faking a favorable public reaction, when in reality, they made the sister's life a “living hell.”

Insiders from Nancy's entourage say that during the last six months of her life, her entire family had cut her off, which made her even more miserable. These are motivated by her well-documented drug-problems and her spiraling weight, it is claimed.
