Her Interactive is announcing the imminent release of the Nintendo Wii version of Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek. The game was initially released for the PC last year and SEGA of America, the publishers, are saying that the game will be released for the Nintendo gaming console sometime in October.

As the name points out, the game is based on the Nancy Drew intellectual property, which is extensively developed in both literature and television. The White Wolf of Icicle Creek adventure is actually preceded by 15 other adventures starring the same character, so the format is pretty well established by now. The game takes the form of a classic point and click quest (and there are not that many of those around).

The plot shows Nancy Drew as she arrives at the Icicle Creek Lodge, somewhere in the Canadian Rockies to discover that a string of unlikely accidents were orchestrated by a strange white wolf. In addition to the point and click action the Wii version of the game will feature some exclusive mini-games that will be based on the creative use of the Wiimote.

Megan Gaiser, who is the president and the Chief Executive Officer of Her Interactive, stated that "With sales of our popular Nancy Drew PC series continuing its year-over-year growth, we felt that it was the natural progression to expand the brand into the console arena. Additionally, the layout, interface and style of our Nancy Drew games make them an ideal fit for the Wii audience, and we are pleased to introduce this title with such a respected partner as Sega".

The console is a good fit for the game because it tends to attract young female gamers with a preference for more casual games, like adventures and puzzles. Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek is set to cost 29.95 dollars on release.
