Nadya Suleman, also known as OctoMom, has just scooped to a new, quite disgusting low: in a bid to make more money off her questionable claim to fame, she has agreed to appear on one of MTV’s new reality shows. Not only that, but she’s agreed to be part of a so-called OctoMom “challenge,” where she has babies flying out of her straight in a man’s face, as Gather informs.

The show featuring the Suleman segment is called “Silent Library” and, from what one can make from the video (see here for it) it’s about a few guys who have to take different challenges while remaining as quiet as possible. The one who draws the death card has to keep all noise levels down to a minimum – which makes it nearly impossible for the guy having plastic baby dolls thrown at his face by none other than Suleman. Still, he finishes the challenge and even wins the $1,000 prize for the team.

Still, the challenge in itself is a good example of what MTV (and the media in general) and the audiences have come to regard as “entertainment,” as Gather puts it. Not only is it encouraging a woman who should not even be famous in the first place to pursue her celebrity dreams by showing her it’s possible to be in the spotlight for absolutely nothing, but it also does so by mocking the very thing that got her in the headlines.

Suleman is a woman who has no job but gave birth to octuplets and is now a mother of 14 – and who would sell her and her children’s soul for a buck, and she should be forced to go away and not be encouraged, Gather believes. “No one has ever made the mistake of considering reality shows high-quality entertainment, but these days, they are proving to be more than just a guilty pleasure. When cultural historians look back on the era of reality television, they will see a time when the media was able to humiliate a great number of people by promising them money and fame. True, the media has been doing this, to an extent, for centuries, salaciously capitalizing on others' misfortunes to satisfy a voracious public appetite; but it seems that reality shows in 2010 have managed to whet an even more deranged collective appetite,” the e-zine says.

“‘Sort-of’ celeb Nadya Suleman (‘Octomom’) is guest-starring in a new MTV show called ‘Silent Library,’ and she is squeezing plastic babies from between her legs at a man’s face. In her quest for more than her allotted 15 minutes of fame, Suleman is degrading herself and all mothers, by mocking what was already a medical travesty. Suleman underwent in-vitro fertilization and had eight children. That’s bad enough. Now she is allowing herself to be further humiliated in her quest for fame. We have come a long way from ‘The Real World’ and ‘Survivor.’ Reality shows in 2010 have become a way for washed-up ‘stars’ to resurrect their careers, even though there was a reason they disappeared from the public eye in the first place,” the same report further reads.

Nadya Suleman should simply go away and stop subjecting herself, her kids and the audience to this type of embarrassing and degrading behavior, Gather concludes. Here is the video – watch it and judge for yourselves.
