The Sushi Yasuda restaurant in Manhattan is hailed as the best sushi place in all New York and, considering the size of it, that’s no small feat. Now, the Sushi Yasuda is getting people talking for an entirely different reason: its owner has banned tips.

Partly because the no-tipping policy is strictly respected in fine Japanese dining and partly because not having to do the math at the end would also mean a headache less for patrons, co-founder Scott Rosenberg believes the tip ban is a good idea.

He ensures patrons that servers are fully compensated in their salary (which includes vacations and sick leave), so no other gratuity is necessary.

As in, you can’t tip even if you want to.

To make sure servers’ salaries can be paid, the restaurant has higher prices now for all items on the menu.

Below is an ABC News reports.

Clearly, there are pros and cons to the measure, and this also explains the heated debate now taking place online.
