Dual-core power for the company's flagship model

It's coming! NVIDIA plans to release a dual-core version of its latest flagship card, the GTX 280 GX2, pushing the total amount of graphics power computer users will benefit from even further. It is yet uncertain when this new card from NVIDIA comes out, but we should probably expect it as a response to a potential release of the Radeon HD 4870 X2 from AMD. To cap it all off, the card is said to bring users a free 2000W PSU, as this graphics monster will most certainly demand a lot of power.

Before you get all hyped up, know that this is nothing more than a practical joke made by someone who just wants a lot of attention. After taking a photo of a stripped down NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, someone with a lot of spare time on their hands decided to add another GPU to the card's PCB and make it look like a dual version of the latest GeForce GTX 280. But the prankster did not stop here: he even codenamed the card (in a way that is inappropriate to mention here, no less) and topped the offer with a free 2000W power supply. Well, if the 2000W PSU didn't raise any questions, the codename sure did.

The web page on which the photo was uploaded also included a comic representation of an ATI RV770 Trojan horse entering NVIDIA's well-built fortress. According to the photo, this was supposed to have happened in BC. 4850 (in direct relation to ATI's yet to be released Radeon HD 4850 card). Both these photos also came with a link towards another page that used the same template as that of the UnleashOneTera website, that is meant to promote ATI's upcoming HD 4000 series cards.

Now, this is where things take a more unpleasant turn. The person (or persons) behind the hoax used the above-mentioned site to poke fun at NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce lineup, by claiming anyone buying one of these cards must be "idiots." Moreover, the UnleashOneFake (the original page being dubbed UnleashOneTera) site uses China's national flag, even though a lower page link redirects users to a Hungarian shopping site.

What you should understand from all of above is that NVIDIA isn't actually planning to release a GeForce GTX 280 GX2 card anytime soon and that a free 2000W PSU handed out for a graphics card is anything but real.
