This week was a pretty important one for mobile gamers across the world. NVIDIA achieved what AMD started back in December when talk about its gaming tablet, dubbed Project Discovery surfaced on the web – it unleashed the first consumer-friendly tablet optimized for gaming.

The Shield tablet brings to the tablet some awesome features that will be the delight of any gamer out there. NVIDIA has managed to build a tablet that lets enthusiasts play Android games, PC games, stream gamers from servers or stream their gameplay to a 4K TV.

The versatile tablet can also be paired with the Shield controller, so those pointing out that tablets have nothing against hand-held gaming devices due to their lack of physical buttons might have a change of heart once they try out this new product.

So what exactly are you going to be able to tap into once you purchase the Shield tablet? NVIDIA’s blog post regarding the matter clarifies things for everybody onboard.

So in addition to the plethora of Android games found in the Google Play Store, owners of the Shield slate will have access to more than 400 Shield-optimized games that are offered through the Shield hub.

What’s more, NVIDIA throws in something for adopters of the new gaming tablet. The company is offering 11 games especially optimized for the Tegra K1 processor, which the company calls the “world’s most advanced mobile processor.”

The official NVIDIA blog details five of these 11 games. For starters, users will be able to enjoy Trine 2: Complete Story which is a side-scrolling game of action, puzzles and platforming which takes advantage of really awesome graphics.

Gamers can play as Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief or Pontius the Knight and try to survive a world of wonder filled with magic and wonder.

The game will come pre-installed on the Shield tablet. Moving on, we find the War Thunder, which is a cross-platform, multi-player online combat game which takes place during the World War II. War Thunder will come to the Google Play store this autumn, so keep an eye out for that, as well.

For those of you who enjoy a little philosophy, you’ll surely enjoy playing Talos Principle with its intricate puzzles built around a metaphysical parable about meaning in a forsaken world.

The last two titles detailed are Portal, which needs no introduction, and Half-Life 2, one of the most celebrated games ever launched.

These games are just the tip of the iceberg. NVIDIA plans to bring more titles including Rochard, Anomaly 2, Flyhunter: Origins, Dungeon Defenders Eternity and Chuck’s Challenge 3D: Reloaded starting July 29.
