NVIDIA has launched the 311.50 graphics driver version targeted at the Quadro, Tesla, and GRID desktop series, and Quadro notebook series graphics cards. The packages bring workstation compatibility fixes as well as performance enhancements over previous versions.

As for compatibility, the notebook graphics driver is developed only for Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 OSes, and in addition to that, the desktop version is compatible with Windows XP and Vista platforms. Nevertheless, both 32- and 64-bit versions are supported.

The XP-compatible files fix the Wildfire 5.0 performance issue that was spotted when Occus benchmark was used. The other packages include this fix as well, but not only that. They resolve the Autodesk Inventor corruption problem and Femap VBO memory leak issue.

Moreover, blue-crash doesn’t occur when connecting a second monitor through NVIDIA Control Panel, Quadro FX 3600M crash issue is now history, and Quadro 4000 has higher performance while performing an FBO upload or PBO readback on a multi-GPU system.

As always, before updating, NVIDIA recommends that nTune is uninstalled and SLI Mosaic mode is disabled so that the installation be a clean one. Afterwards, you can come back to the original configuration.
