It has five USB 3.0 ports as well, among other things

Monitors can be ordinary things, but they can also be so loaded with special features that you can't help but stare. Then there are the models that hover somewhere in between those extremes, like the one that AOC revealed just a short time ago.

The monitor in question bears the name of AOC G2460PG, which is really a pretty plain, forgettable name for this sort of display.

After all, the newcomer actually has specifications that place it above the mainstream line, although, granted, the size of 24 inches in diagonal does make the price a bit more accessible than usual.

Not that it's all that low, at $449 / €449, but it could have been a lot higher, considering the assets inside and all over it.

The AOC G2460PG

As far as monitors go, it has a better than average brightness of 300 cd/m2 (many common displays have 250 cd/m2) and pretty good viewing angles too, of 170 and 160 degrees horizontally and vertically.

The angles are impressive because they are so wide without the monitor using an IPS panel, to the best of our knowledge.

Also, the response time is a pretty good 5 ms. Not bad, not overly good, but still enough for even shooters, though some people may look for a 1ms display out of principle.

Admittedly, the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels isn't anything to gape at, but it's not as though 4K has become the mandatory standard or anything. Besides, if it's a multi-display setup you intend to create, 4K per panel is a bit overkill anyway.

Speaking of which, the monitor is actually intended for gaming, because there aren't any films or other media that really need G-Sync technology, and the AOC G2460PG definitely has it. It’s a technology that syncs the refresh rate to the GPU, eliminating graphics problems without causing latency (unlike V-Sync).

Furthermore, the new AOC monitors have white LED backlighting (W-LED) and a stand with tilt, pivot, height, and swivel adjustment.

Finally, AOC decided to install a USB hub on the newcomer. There are five USB ports on the monitor, with both USB 3.0 and 2.0 support.

Availability

Shipments of the AOC G2460PG should begin in December, for the price we mentioned before. AOC DialPoint Custom Crosshair functionality will be included, along with NVIDIA 3D Vision support.
