While we've had some doubt regarding NVIDIA's statements referring to the future of their Tegra platform, various market sources seem to point out the fact that the GPU and chip manufacturer's mobile platform will actually become a whole lot more popular in the near future, especially as far as Android tablets are concerned. So, as some of you will remember, NVIDIA promised back at CES 2010 that we would see plenty of Tegra and Tegra-2 – based products arrive on the market this year, and although quite a few such devices have been formally introduced (not only Internet tablets, but some smartphones as well), we certainly can't say that they've really “flooded” the market.

However, as Engadget reports, NVIDIA's Tegra and Tegra 2 bet really paid off, since it seems that Samsung has chosen the latter platform for its next-gen Galaxy Tab 2 tablet, which means that NVIDIA will get a pretty huge order from the Korean company for 2011.

Furthermore, additional sources from the industry claim that the Tegra platform has been chosen by Google as reference design for their Honeycomb Android iteration (Android 3.0), which means that the company might get plenty of orders from all the companies out there looking for the quickest path to market availability for their products.

Of course, for the time being, we're mostly talking about bits and pieces of information available from various sources within the analyst community, so it's a bit early to say that NVIDIA has really landed all of those deals.

But, then again, if they do prove to be true, then NVIDIA might actually get to a dominant position in the mobile graphics market, which is exactly what they've planned for Tegra all along (plus, you shouldn't forget that Tegra has plenty of applications in other fields as well, including that of smart vehicles, which will further boost sales).
