As some you might remember, we've talked quite a bit about the involvement of NVIDIA's Tegra platform in the automotive industry with Mr. Mike Rayfield, General Manager of the Tegra business, back at MWC 2011, and now, it seems that some of those plans are already being set in motion.

And that's because it seems that, according to a report by Engadget, the platform can also be found within one of the most impressive vehicles to be showcased to the world lately, namely Lamborghini's latest super sports car, the Aventador LP700-4.

Our colleagues from Autoevolution had the chance of taking a quick look at the new Aventador LP-700-4 during their visit at the Geneva 2011 show, and were actually extremely impressed with the new supercar, its futuristic design and controls making it extremely attractive for any true automotive fan.

One interesting detail related to this extremely advanced vehicle is the fact that all of the control gauges in the car's dashboard have been replaced with LCD displays, connecting to a central MMI system, powered by NVIDIA's Tegra platform.

Plus, the navigation system is also quite advanced, featuring 3D maps and other goodies, all of which require quite a hefty amount of computing power, with a minimum electrical power consumption, this being specifically the area of expertise of NVIDIA's Tegra.

As you might remember from our interview with Mr. Rayfield that NVIDIA's plans for the future of the platform in relation to the automotive industry are quite serious, the company planning to actually push Tegra as the graphics platform of choice of other car manufactures (outside the Volkswagen group, that is).

And the fact that the new Lamborghini Aventador makes such good use of the Tegra's video capabilities leads us to believe that it will actually find its way into much more vehicles, as they become more and more advanced and require superior computing power.
