NVIDIA's Kepler architecture has proven quite formidable, but its time will pass like for every other graphics technology before it.
It might take longer than normal though. While a new architecture will definitely appear in 2014, called Maxwell, Kepler will continue to be important, because the Tegra 5 ARM-based tablet platform, successor to Tegra 4, will use it.
Based on information from Sweclockers, we can surmise that the codename of Tegra 5 will be “Logan,” just like Tegra 6 will be called “Strong” for some reason.
Logan will have a Kepler GPU, suggesting 192-384 CUDA cores (one or two Kepler XMX units). Strong will use a Maxwell chip, which will further boost the stream processor count.
The Logan Tegra 5 will supposedly debut in the fourth quarter of 2013. It would give Tegra 4 a surprisingly short life, but it would also keep things fresh for everyone.
