It appears that, even though the actual trade show has yet to start, a certain NVIDIA mobile platform based on Arm processing technology has gained honors by standing out amidst over 400 products.

If the number of tablets that adopted the NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip) wasn't enough to make a solid impression, it seems that an award has been granted to the mobile platform, cementing it as a top option for tablets.

More specifically, NVIDIA has issued a press release in which it reveals that the mobile super chip, as it is called, overshadowed more than 400 other electronic hardware parts.

More specifically, it gained the “Best Choice” award from the Taipei Computer Association for Smart Handheld Devices.

"It's an honor to receive this prestigious award from the Taipei Computer Association," said Phil Carmack, senior vice president of the Mobile business at NVIDIA.

"This helps validate the very sizable investment we've placed in Tegra and demonstrates that the mobile market is significant for NVIDIA. But this is only the start. With Project Kal-El, our quad-core processor, we're planning to take mobile computing to even higher levels."

Those that want a reminder about the Full HD-capable slate platform will get a better idea of what it can do by looking at some of the tablets that already use it.

Either way, this is the third time NVIDIA gets this award, the previous ones having been earned by the GeForce GTX 480 graphics and the NVIDIA ION.

In addition to the above, there are or will be LG, Motorola, Samsung, Acer and Toshiba mobile devices already on sale.

"The NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor is truly a super chip," said the jury of the Best Choice Award.

"It has ushered in a new wave of super phones and tablet devices with never-before-seen capabilities and experiences. We selected Tegra 2 from hundreds of entries because it's an outstanding technological achievement that's impacted the industry very positively."
