NVIDIA Corporation announced this weekend that Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems has unveiled its latest notebook which features an HD DVD-ROM drive - Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 - which includes NVIDIA's GeForce Go 7600 graphics processing unit (GPU) meant to enable the playback of highly-anticipated, high definition movies with superb picture clarity.

As part of the award-winning GeForce Go 7 Series of notebook GPUs, Toshiba's latest Qosmio G35-AV650 features only advanced technologies like support for the latest games and applications with DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 offering more realism to real-time gaming.

In addition, H.264 and MPEG2 hardware accelerated support through NVIDIA PureVideo technology a combination of HD video processors and software delivers a HD home-theater quality video experience to the PC.

And, consequently, the latest Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 features the latest high-performance 3D architecture built for Microsoft Windows Vista, the first operating system which necessitates an enhanced GPU in order to run at its full potential.

"HD will bring a new video experience to laptop users", said Jeff Fisher, Senior Vice President of the GPU Business at NVIDIA. "The powerful NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 GPU with PureVideo technology accelerates video playback with minimal CPU utilization and low power consumption, delivering a high quality video experience for PC users on the go."

NVIDIA PowerMizer technology was created in order to offer advanced power management features which enable the same dramatic performance enhancements as the previous generations of NVIDIA mobile GPUs. Also, Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 features a reduced power consumption level and generates less heat as result of a better cooler and the smaller size of the notebook, with increased battery life.

Only days before NVIDIA announced the latest Toshiba notebook, Airgo Networks also declared that Alienware has unveiled two new laptops featuring Gen3 True MIMO technology from Airgo - Aurora m9700 and Aurora mALX.

As the 17-inch Aurora m9700 and 19-inch Aurora mALX notebooks from Alienware are built around AMD's Turion 64 X2 mobile technology multi-core processor, Airgo's Gen3 True MIMO chipsets and Nvidia's dual SLI graphics processors, they provide users with faster-than-Ethernet wireless networking speeds.
