Said to be bug-free

One of the biggest drawbacks NVIDIA had to deal with this year has to be the company's mobile GPU failure issues, which have been reported earlier this year. Since then, the Santa Clara, California-based manufacturer has been trying to solve things and minimize the effects on the company's image.

One of the main solutions it provided was to allow users to change the defective GPUs, free of cost, given that they were affected by the reported problems. However, it looks like the green company might just have another solution to the problem, as reported in a recent news-article on vr-zone.

According to a leaked note from the chip maker to its partners, NVIDIA strongly encourages its customers to upgrade to its newest graphics processors, which are said to provide a better build quality, eliminating the potential risk of having a GPU failure. The new GPU reported in the note is basically featured with a new underfill that the company claims to improve the product's quality and even expand the lifespan of the GPU, thanks to an improved thermal cycling reliability.

According to the note: “NVIDIA is committed to providing our customers with quality products that push the edge of technology and also continuously improve product quality and reliability. To help improve the product quality and ensure smooth and uninterrupted product supply during the current “end stage” of life cycle, NVIDIA strongly recommends that customers transition to this latest revision of the NB8E-SET GPUs as soon as possible. These latest revision units utilize “Hitachi” underfill packaging material that improves product quality and enhances operating life by improved thermal cycling reliability.”

The NB8E-SET is essentially the new version of the earlier-released NB8E-SE, which has been featured in products such as the GeForce 8800M GS or GeForce 9650M GS. With the new Hitachi underfill, the GPU boasts a 625MHz core, a 128-bit interface and 800MHz GDDR2/3 memory.
