Just moments away from AMD's announcement, NVIDIA has officially rolled out its latest addition to the GeForce desktop graphics card lineup, introducing the new 55nm GT200-based GTX 275. According to the Santa Clara, California-based graphics chip maker, the new card will directly compete with AMD's latest release, the Radeon HD 4890. Performance wise, it is placed between the GTX 260 and the GTX 280, offering a series of technical specifications that are similar to both cards. According to NVIDIA, the new card is part of its strategy to cover all market segments, providing users with a wide range of choices for their desktop graphics.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, the new GTX 275 has been equipped with 240 processor cores, the same as the GTX 280 and the GTX 285, a clock speed of 633MHz and a Shader frequency of 1404MHz. Compared to the GTX 280 and the GTX 285, the new GTX 275 comes close to the performance of these two cards, especially if you consider the minimal differences between the three, in terms of technical specs.

NVIDIA's new GTX 275 is equipped with 896MB of 448-bit GDDR3 memory, working at a clock speed of 1134MHz and capable of delivering a memory bandwidth of 127 GB/s. As with almost all of NVIDIA's latest GPUs, the new GTX 275 provides support for DirectX 10, OpenGL 3.0 and the company's own PhysX, CUDA and PureVideo. Additional details include a maximum GPU temperature of 105 degrees Celsius, a maximum graphics card power of 219W and two 6-pin power connectors. The card is equipped with a dual-slot cooling solution and two dual-link DVI ports.

The new card has been announced alongside the new GeForce Power Pack 3 which includes a number of new PhysX and CUDA-enabled applications. According to NVIDIA, the new GTX 275 will be available globally starting April 14, 2009 at a MSRP of €239.
