It's a well-known fact that the Santa Clara, California-based NVIDIA has been actively promoting the benefits and features of its much-appreciated ION platform, claiming that it will have about 40 design wins with it before the end of this year. In an attempt to further draw momentum to the platform, the chip maker has recently announced that it has started a case mod competitION for users in the US and Canada, which will enable them to draw and submit their own ideas of how an NVIDIA ION-based PC should look like.

The contest is part of a collaboration between the chip maker, Modders Inc, and CPU Magazine. According to the details on the NVIDIA ION case mod contest, users in the US and Canada are supposed to submit their ideas for an NVIDIA ION Platform-based case mod on the ION mod forums on Modders-Inc’s website. Starting this past Monday, July 13th, users are to submit their entries, which will be accepted until August 10th. NVIDIA will narrow down the entry list to the top 30, while five professional modders will then select their five favorite designs.

The winning mod will be awarded to the user who comes up with the original idea, while four runners-up, whose ideas were also used for a case mod, will receive a Zotac ION motherboard, a copy of The Sims 3, and 1400 Battle funds for Battlefield Heroes. The 30 individuals whose ideas will make it in the top 30 will receive a free subscription to CPU Magazine.

The NVIDIA ION platform has been designed to provide system builders with a choice for a higher-performance, low-power computer system. The solution combines an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 chipset with a low-power Intel Atom processor, providing users with an energy-efficient, fully capable computer system.
