As end-users know, NVIDIA has seen a fairly big success with its Tegra 2 platform, particularly among tablets, and while its next-generation quad-core product will greatly outclass it, it seems to be nothing compared to what will come in 2014.

End-users will no doubt have already heard about the many tablets on show at this year's mobile World Congress expo.

We even have a pair of colleagues on the site, taking the time to speak about their hands on experience with some of the gadgets.

Acer Iconia Tab A100, HTC's Flyer and the ASUS Slider are just a few of the many slates on show.

Basically, Tegra 2 is seeing a great success, so NVIDIA announced that it would be moving along the Kal-El project.

This Superman will supposedly be about five times as powerful as the existing ARM-based platform when it gets released (by the end of 2011) but, according to reports, will be totally outclassed by what will come later.

According to the roadmap revealed by NVIDIA, the Kal-El quad-core chip will be followed by the Wayne (Tegra 4) in 2012, the Logan (Tegra 5) in 2013 and the Stark (Tegra 6) in 2014.

As one would expect, the Stark will completely eclipse everything that came before it, or this NVIDIA hopes to achieve at least.

It is said that the performance of the Stark will be one hundred times higher than that of the existing Tegra 2, and considering that HD and Full HD video already works on the platform, one can only imagine whet sort of super phones and slates will be made four years form now.

It is not made specifically clear what manufacturing process will be used in the Stark, but with Kal-El set to be built on 28nm, one can easily assume a significantly more advanced node than that.
