Graphics cards are expected to be available on launch

The leading manufacturer of consumer graphics, NVIDIA is supposed to release its new graphics card lineup by the end of June. To be more exact, the middle of 2008 will bring NVIDIA users up close and personal with the company's latest high-performance graphics card. Dubbed GT200, the card is expected to be available for purchase in the 25th week of this year.

According to Fudzilla and their sources, the Santa Clara, California-based company is prepared to release its new graphics cards at the date specified above. Apparently, the boards are to be available for purchase at launch. Unfortunately, the GT200/D10U-30 cards are going to run for a price tag of no less than $600, which might make enthusiast users dig deep into their pockets in order to become the owners of these monsters.

As we mentioned in an earlier post, NVIDIA has big plans for its upcoming product lineup, especially after it failed to deliver a graphics card featuring the Aegia physics technology. The new GT200 lineup is supposed to bring an improvement in performance of about 50%, as compared to the company's current flagship dual-GPU GeForce 9800GX2 (which goes for about $500, minimum). This card was also advertised to improve the graphics performance of desktop computer systems by 50%, as compared to the earlier GeForce 8800 Ultra.

NVIDIA users will be happy to know that if they make the financial effort of acquiring one of these cards, they will have at their disposal the best consumer graphics cards available on the market. AMD's Radeon 4870 and 4850 are expected to be slower than NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 280 but they will also cost significantly less, with the high-performance 4870 to have a price tag of $230.

If the rumors are true, then maybe we will get to see these two graphics cards at this year's Computex show in Taipei.
